For five years, Devorah and Joey Seif have been champions of Jewish education in Chicago, supporting Kehillah Fund’s mission to unite the community around Torah-based learning.
When Devorah first received a call from Associate Director Robin Loeb about Kehillah Fund’s campaign, she wasn’t expecting to become such a passionate advocate for the organization. But after Robin’s thorough explanation of how Kehillah Fund works, something clicked.
“I even increased my donation,” Devorah recalls with a smile.
That conversation five years ago marked the beginning of the Seif family’s dedicated support of the Kehillah Fund. As parents of children at Arie Crown, Devorah and Joey understand firsthand the importance of strong Jewish education, and they’ve discovered the power of community-wide collaboration in supporting our schools.
The Beauty of Unity
What draws the Seifs most to Kehillah Fund is its unifying approach to supporting Jewish education across Chicago’s diverse Orthodox community.
“I like that you give to one organization and they disperse it to everybody. It creates unity,” Devorah explains. “When we’re all working together, despite our differences, for this one goal—to provide Jewish education—it unites us.”
This unity isn’t just philosophical for the Seifs; it’s practical. Instead of fielding multiple fundraising calls from different schools throughout the year, they can support Jewish education comprehensively through one trusted organization.
“This is the place where you get one call, and then you’re helping everyone.”
Beyond Their School Walls
While the Seifs are dedicated to their children’s school, they recognize that strengthening Jewish education means thinking beyond any single institution.
“You’re helping your school, but you’re also helping schools beyond that,” Devorah reflects. This broader perspective drives their continued giving year after year.
The Ambassador Experience
The Seifs have gone beyond just giving—they’ve served as Campaign Ambassadors for multiple years, helping spread Kehillah Fund’s message throughout their networks.
“It was fun because it doesn’t matter who you ask, everybody has a connection to Kehillah Fund.”
Their ambassador experience reinforced what they already knew: Kehillah Fund’s message resonates because it addresses a real need in a practical and unifying way.
Continuing Torah Values
At the heart of their support is a deep commitment to continuity. “Jewish education continues to teach Torah values to our children, together with middos,” Devorah emphasizes.
By supporting Kehillah Fund, the Seifs are helping ensure that more than 3,300 students across 11 Chicagoland Orthodox K-8 schools can receive quality, Torah-based education.
A Model of Community Partnership
The Seif family exemplifies what makes Kehillah Fund’s mission possible: community members who understand that strengthening Jewish education requires collective action.
Through their partnership with Kehillah Fund, Devorah and Joey Seif are helping ensure that Jewish education remains strong, accessible, and unifying for the entire Chicago Orthodox community.
